Product Overview
Hastelloy wire mesh is a metal mesh product made from ultra-low-carbon nickel‑based corrosion‑resistant alloys – Hastelloy. Hastelloy is a commercial grade nickel‑based corrosion‑resistant alloy produced by Hastelloy International, Inc., and is mainly divided into nickel‑molybdenum alloys and nickel‑chromium‑molybdenum alloys.
With excellent corrosion resistance, high‑temperature performance and long‑term thermal stability, Hastelloy wire mesh is widely used in harsh industrial environments such as agricultural chemicals, nuclear facilities and biopharmaceuticals. As one of the most corrosion‑resistant materials among modern metals, Hastelloy wire mesh is an ideal choice for handling highly corrosive media.
Core Properties & Features
Excellent Corrosion Resistance
Hastelloy wire mesh is one of the most corrosion‑resistant materials among modern metals. It remains stable in various harsh corrosive environments and offers excellent resistance to:
- Strong corrosive acids: hydrochloric, sulfuric, phosphoric acids, etc.
- Oxidizing media: wet chlorine, various oxidizing chlorides
- Salt solutions: chloride salt solutions, oxidizing salts
- Organic acids: acetic acid, formic acid, etc.
- Chloride ion corrosion: One of the few materials resistant to wet chlorine, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions
Excellent High‑Temperature Performance
Hastelloy wire mesh has outstanding high‑temperature resistance, allowing long‑term stable operation at elevated temperatures without significant deformation or softening. C‑276 mesh can withstand up to 400℃ with a tensile strength of 780MPa; some grades (e.g., Hastelloy G) can be used continuously at 600℃ and intermittently up to 800℃.
Resistance to Stress Corrosion Cracking
When subjected to combined stress and corrosion, Hastelloy wire mesh is not prone to cracking, ensuring structural integrity and reliability.
High Strength & Mechanical Properties
It has high tensile and yield strength, performing well under pressure and load. For example, annealed Hastelloy C22 has tensile strength ≥ 690 MPa and yield strength ≥ 283 MPa.
Good Workability
Despite its high strength and corrosion resistance, Hastelloy wire mesh can be formed and manufactured using various processing methods, into different mesh counts, shapes and sizes.
Applications
Chemical Industry
Widely used in chemical reactions and separation processes involving oxidizing and reducing media, as linings or filtration components for reactors, pipes, valves, filters, etc. It handles corrosive media such as wet chlorine, sulfurous acid, acetic acid, formic acid and strong oxidizing salts.
Petrochemical Industry
Used in oil extraction, refining and other filtration processes, resisting acidic substances and sulfides. Suitable for corrosive, high‑temperature and high‑pressure media.
Flue Gas Desulfurization & Denitrification
In environmental FGD equipment, used for linings or filtration parts of absorbers, heat exchangers, chimneys, etc., resisting corrosion from acidic gases and particulates in flue gas.
Pulp & Paper Industry
Used in cooking, bleaching and other stages of papermaking, resisting chemicals in pulp and high‑temperature corrosion.
Nuclear Facilities
With excellent corrosion and heat resistance, used in nuclear reactor filtration and protection systems, such as nuclear fuel storage/transport containers and cooling system filtration components.
Biopharmaceuticals
Used in filtration and purification steps in pharmaceutical processes, such as fermentation broth filtration and API refining, preventing metal ion leaching that could affect drug quality.
